Small groups are a great way to get plugged into the Purdue BCM by getting to know more people and studying the Word of God together. Depending on the semester, we’ll have small groups tailored toward freshmen, guys, ladies, and general co-ed studies.
Spring 2012 semester small groups:
WHAT IS LOVE?
JESUS ON LEADERSHIP/NEHEMIAH
THE TRUTH ABOUT SEX
SEEKING GOD
WHAT IS LOVE?
(Men’s Group)
Leader: Kyle Hart
Time: Monday Tuesday or Wednesday at 7:30 or 8 preferably 8.
Location: BCM House, 507 Waldron St.
Details:
In Ephesians 5:33 Men are told to love their wives as themselves, but what exactly is love? Not the just the emotional stuff but the details and responsibilities that come with love. What are the secret dangers? Are there different types of love? If so which is the greatest? Four Loves by C.S Lewis attempts to answer all and more of these questions about love. And the possible dark side of love. “For Hell is the only place outside of Heaven one can be safe from the dangers of love.” This is not a romantic novel; this is getting down to the grubby roots of the most basic love, and working up. This is something no MAN should be ignorant about.

This small group helps develop leaders that follow the pattern of Jesus’ ministry of training people to do kingdom work. Developing servant leaders is what the BCM desires to do. This study will help you become a servant leader and give you skills that you can use not only at the BCM, but in your church and work environment as well. Mark 10:45 tells us “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” This a five week study the will give you a spiritual gifts test and personality test then show you how that affects how you serve in ministry. This is a prerequisite for leadership team but it is not just for those who want to be on leadership team.
After we finish the Jesus on Leadership book we will continue the rest of the semester going through the book of Nehemiah. This will be an inductive study of Nehemiah which is one of the best examples of a complete book that shows us how we should be leaders. During this time you will be asked to read two or three chapters of Nehemiah a week and ready to discuss and learn more about what God teaches about leadership through Nehemiah.

SEEKING GOD
(Co-ed)
Leader: Jesse Ault
Time: TBA
Cost:$0 all books available on line.
The purpose of this Bible study is foremost to cultivate our love for the Lord Jesus Christ and to develop our passion to know Him more deeply and to be made ever more into the likeness of our Saviour. We will begin each meeting time with prayer and praise. We will take lessons from excerpts of some of the classic Christian works, but our primary resource will be our desire for God to fill us and draw us ever nearer to Him. We will seek new ways to discipline ourselves and express love to God.
“Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while he is near. For I will pour water on the thirsty land, and streams on the dry ground; I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants.” (From Isaiah 44 and 55)
